Author: steve (CA) You remove the tank from the bowl, pull off the gasket and use a large wrench. Are you thinking the gasket inside the tank is what is sealing the tank to the bowl? There are 2 gaskets. One sealing the flush valve to the tank and one under the tank, to seal tank to bowl.

Author: steve (CA) As Packy posted, the gasket under the tank is probably the triangle gasket, with the nut recessed in the gasket.
