My jet pump brings water to the house and for the last several months the pump comes on every for minutes and runs for 5 seconds and shuts off. I have turned off the Reverse Osmosis, and the two toilets and that just leaves the Kenmore Water Softener. For a while now I believed it must be the Check Valve in the well so decided to shut off all water in the house and the Jet Pump stopped running which means it is not the check valve in the well.
I have not been able to move the water softener valve to the by pass position. Do you think I could be losing water from it?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gerry1942

If shutting off the main house valve stops the pump from running, then the diagnosis is pretty simple: there is a leak on the house side of the valve. The challenge for you will be to locate it. Part of the search will include bypassing the water softener.

Turn one valve, at a time, back on and wait 10 minutes after each valve. You will find the faulty valve pretty quickly.
