Little to no water pressure upstairs, fine downstairs. Help
Author: kmblair521 (OR)

My husband turned off the main water to our whole house yesterday to repair the vacuum pressure breaker to our sprinkler system. Ever since he turned it back on, the faucets and shower upstairs trickle, but does warm up so we know the hot water heater is fine. A little brown water came out at first. But water pressure, hot and cold, is fine downstairs.

Also, with nothing running, right before we went to bed last night he checked the meter and then again this morning and it showed we lost 50 gallons.

What could this be? We have owned this house for a year and a half and it was built in 1957.

When ever opening a valve always open it slowly to prevent sediment from blocking lines

Unscrew the aerators and shower head and clean them. There's probably debris stuck in them, that dislodged from the piping when the water was turned back on. With the aerators and shower head off, run the faucets to flush out any remaining debris.
