 freestanding tub drain location question
Author: mel41g (AL)

Remodeling my master bathroom and we need to buy a tub soon. House is on a slab so we do not want to move the current plumbing. We removed a drop-in style and want to buy a free standing. The drain location is giving us some problems... it is located about 18" away from the wall, where one end of the bathtub will be. But the tubs we are looking at almost all have center drains. Is there a drain that will strech all the way to the center of a tub and drain back? Also, what type of drain plug is comfortable to sit on? smiling smiley

ifyou have a tub on legs then you will have to bust the floor to relocate the drain to a center location.
a tub waste that has an internal stopper actuated by a trip lever on the overflow plate can be sat on. a pop-up style drain can not.

Even if the tub is a freestanding on its own base, the slab will need to be cut so that the trap can be moved to it's correct location directly under the drain.

not what you want to hear:

Plumbing done properly is NOT inexpensive.

You want to change type of tub properly?
