 Walk out tub
Author: KCRoto (MO)

Has anyone installed a walk out tub in a residential setting? I have only seen two of them, and have never seen one outside a commercial setting. Is a floor drain required? Both commercial buildings had floor drains and this is going to be a slab construction, so I figured it would be a good idea regardless. I don't know how the homeowner will react when I tell them about a drain in the middle of the bathroom floor. Any other things that would be helpful to know about the installation?

i've seen them on TV and i've seen an option for a heated seat. sounds like a good idea to me.
the square cover drains don't look as bad as the round ones.

he few that I have installed basically had the waste and overflow's outlet set over an open drain and the water lines connected with hoses, in other words, they were essentially portable. You CANNOT start to fill a "walk in tub", until you are in it, anc cannot get out until the tub is drained.
