I've got a leak in the basement, its under the shower and all the fittings are tight. It just started leaking even though we had a remodel 6 months ago. Help! What is the best way to seal it.

Easiest thing to do is call the original plumber back in to fix it.
It could very well be the shower drain itself is leaking due to a faulty seal inside the shower.

I wish I could, he was a big talker, with sad stories got all the money from us before he was half way through the job plus extra money then disappeared. We have been having to finish up the bathroom our selves.

A visual inspection should tell you exactly what is leaking and what needs to be done to fix it.
It could be as simple as tightening the rubber collar around the drain pipe from inside the shower.

That tells us NOTHING about what, or where, the leak is so we cannot advise you as to whether it can even be easily fixed.
