Washer drain hose not quite long enough
Author: SCNewbie45 (SC)

Hello, I am new to the forum and I have what may seem a very basic question for you experts. I just bought a new Admiral top loading washing machine and had it installed in my outside utility shed where the water heater and dryer are. The drain hose on the new washer is located on the opposite of the washer from the side it was located on the old washer and the drain hose is not quite long enough to drop into the 2" drain pipe. The end of the drain hose makes it to the top of the drain pipe, but it isn't long enough to go down into the drain pipe so it can be secured. Moving the washer even a little isn't an option since the washer and dryer are so close together.

Is there a fairly easy fix for this? The drain pipe is 2" in diameter and the opening on the drain hose is a 3/4" opening.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I would use a coupling and some more drain hose.

if the stand pipe is exposed, cut it off down low, put in a couple of 45's to offset it a few inches.
