Hoping for some advise. I'm trying to replace my tub spout and the adapter for the old one is stuck. I've tried wrenching it out by force, and dousing it in clr. Thoughts?

I'd put a cut in it with a hacksaw blade, parallel with copper, insert a screwdriver in the cut, twist the screwdriver and snap it into pieces. I'm guessing there's a grip ring, like a sharkbite, keeping the adapter from pulling off.

It'd probably heat it a few seconds with my torch, it wouldn't take much heat to limber it up enough to slide right off.

Heat the tip of a screwdriver, and you should be able to "cut" it.

the adapter is plastic. I would use a set of channel locks to squeeze it till it deformed, then move the pliers 90 degrees and do it again. After you crack the plastic or it deforms to egg shape in both directions, anything holding it should be broken free and it should slide right off. If that doesn't work, I would use heat and not a saw.

Thanks for the tips! We were able to remove it finally. I'll keep that screwdriver trick in mind though. Thanks again!

There COULD be, but it would have been a stupid way to make a spout, and I doubt that ANY manufacturer would have made a spout that could not be removed, AND, if that were so, it should rotate just like a Sharkbite would. It pulls off, but it stuck for some reason.

I'm pretty sure there used to be a set screw there. It has probably deformed the copper slightly making the adapter hard to pull off.
