Trying to replace my bathtub spot. No screw so figured easy screw on. It is turning but not coming off. Any ideas? Just my daughter and I but should be able to handle this. Do have hard water. The diverted doesn't work and would like to take a shower, sick of baths. Thanks!

If it turns but does not come off, there must be a screw on the bottom. How about a picture, in case you have an odd one.

You could have a hidden set screw, or someone has used a shark bite fitting in the wall, or perhaps Pex; the fittings may just be turning. If there isn't a hole on the underside of the spout for an allen wrench, you may have to get access behind the shower wall. Sometimes during a remodel, someone has had the foresight to leave an access panel, or a return air grate over the hole. I have found a few behind full length wall mirrors as well.

I had a problem like this and took my hack saw and cut the body of the spout and peeled it off with a pair of channels.

Just read you are a renter....Don't do as I suggested!! let the maintenance guy fix your spout.

I am a renter so if it gets into the wall I'll have to leave that to the landlord and hope it doesn't come to that! I know they should replace but thought this was something cheap and easy and we could do without bugging them. The less I have to deal with them and repairs the better! I'll try and get a picture.

If you are renting and violate the lease agreement and damage something, you could potentially be in for big money repairs if you break something. Let the landlord know. If he is okay with it, get a plumber out there and have them fix the problem and take the repairs off the rent-IF IT IS APPROVED IN WRITING. Many landlords are fine with that arrangement as it takes the liability and hassle out of their hands.

That's why I asking if there is something simple that I'm missing. Not going to do anything that causes damage. This should have been am easy screw off and then back on.

get a flashlight and see if there is that little hole on the bottom of spout to insert allen wrench. Should be able to see screw with flashlight.

If you are a tenant, you already touched it too much.

If you break it, your landlord will and should make you pay for it, unless he gave you permission to mess with it, which I highly doubt he did
