Hi, I replaced gasket on over flow. Of coarse what hardware store had was thicker than what my 60 year old bathtub had. I Needed to use longer screws. I tightened it as best I could. I Looked through the wall behind the tub and noticed that the top of the gasket was at 12:15 instead of 12:00. Will it hold?

THe gasket's rotational orientation can be slightly off and still work fine. The wall of the tub slopes inward towards the drain, and the tub drain is straight, so there is a tapered void. The orientation of the gasket best fills the void when it is installed exactly with the narrowest point upward, and the thickest part down, but a couple of degrees won't hurt once it is tightened down.

what is important is that the new screws you used are brass or stainless steel..
as long as the new gasket compresses you are OK.
if in doubt, put some 100% silicone caulk between the gasket and the tub and then tighten.

The gasket should have been beveled so you could rotate it to the spot where it fit the space between the tub and fitting the closest, (in other words, there is no "top" or "bottom"winking smiley.. As long as it is compressed all around the gasket it should seal properly.
