I Had a slow bathtub drain so I poured drain solve into tub and waited about 10hours for it to work. I Then ran the hot water into tub but it was stopped completely. I poured some more in and gave it about 8 hours to work. Still stopped so I started plunging. Plunging tub drain and over flow hole. After a while water went down with a gush. The drain opened. When I went downstairs the acid or water or both were leaking through kitchen ceiling. I Thought I made a hole in the pipe with the drain solve. I took a bath and let the water drain, not a drop of water leaked through. I Am baffled. Did I break a pipe? Or does it have something to do with plunging over flow? HELP!

Your overflow gasket is leaking and plunging pushed water up to the opening where it leaked out.

well susan, if you look back at a few posts you will see a couple of people got angry at some plumbers here who said what they were describing made no sense.
again, what you are describing makes no sense. i mean that in a good way..
the point being, leaks don't fix themselves.
OK, start yelling...

I Would like to thank you for your input. I Looked behind the bathtub wall and saw evidence that it was infact leaking. I then took the cover off the over flow and saw the rubber gasket was almost non existent. I Am very happy! At first I thought the drain solve ate the pipe. This is something I can do. You have the best night!

It leaked AFTER the plunging but not while or after using the tub.
