I obviously didn't know enough and replaced the seats in my shower faucets with the wrong ones. I have an old unidentifiable to me and booklet at Home Depot Kohler setup and foolishly thought the seat Home Depot DID have would work, despite its being perhaps 1/4" longer. I thought I was careful to not crossthread, but apparently when it felt hand-tight after turner several turns fewer than it felt like it should have THAT was when I can only presume it was crossthreading. I tightened it some with a seat wrench, and finished the reassembly. The leak remains just as it did before I changed the seats and end washers. It is a very slow leak - all out of the spout, there is no drip for about ten seconds and then a small stream for a few seconds and then repeats. It's as though the leak is very slow and building up somewhere until it has leaked enough to force its release. Any help will be very greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

so now you remove the 'wrong' seats (which, because of their length, may have bottomed out)
then either:
post pics and wait for advice
or
call in a pro

It is probably NOT cross threaded, but it may have the incorrect thread and if so, you may have damaged the thread in the body so even the correct one will not seal.

you need to take the old seats to a plumbing supply house to match up.
