 pipe in attic
Author: china34singapore (TX)

I was needing to know that what type of water pipes to replace in my attic. My house is over 60 yrs old and when I run the water faucet in the kitchen the water has a yellow tint and I was told by a friend of mine that its time to replace all of my plumbing. My husband said we could just replace sections using pvc. I am not sure what to do.

you take a sample of the water and send it to a testing labratory to have it analyzed.
then you make an intelligent decision based on their analysis and their recommendation

Are you on a well, or a municipal water source? Pvc isn't an option, but cpvc, pex, and copper are alternatives to galvanized pipe.

Even your best friends, with good intentions, can mislead you. Before you spend your money, have your water sample tested by your local water department. Do you have a well or city water supplier? Once you know the FACTS, you can hire a licensed plumber to perform an onsite inspection of your property and offer the best suggestions of material types and locations.

Best Wishes
