Do the most up to date W/M's need both hot water and cold water supplies or cold water only?

I personally have never seen a washing machine that doesn't require a separate hot and cold supply. That being said, you may be able to cap the inlet for the hot water supply if only cold water was available, but you would have to check with the machine's manufacturer, as they may require water pressure on both sides of the valve. If that was the case, you could use a Y connection to the machine and simply have one supply feeding the Y backwards through the bottom.

It would really limit their customer base if they did that. YOU can run it with cold water washing only, but they would NEVER sell one with just cold water connections.
