My powder room sink has stopped up 4 times in the past 12 months. The sink drains fine for roughly 3 months, then starts to hold water. No other sinks or toilets back up. After the third time, a licensed plumber ran a camera down the line and determined that there is a "belly" in the pvc drain, he estimated about 5 feet long. He thinks the kitchen sink also drains to the same line which contributes to the stoppage. The house is two-story on slab foundation and the area of the belly is some 20 feet from the nearest edge of the foundation so tunneling to repair would seem quite risky. Is anyone aware of alternatives to keeping such a line clear without repairing the line via tunneling or busting through the slab? Thanks.

if the kitchen sink shared the same drain that clogs, it too would stop up.
there are no other options that i am aware of.
you could install an easily accessable cleanout and invest in a small but good quality snake and clear the line yourself each time it needs it.

Thanks, that's what my plumber thought too but so far have been lucky that kitchen sink drains fine. He also suggested installing clean out behind the sink which will be my next move. Just looking for ways to avoid major repair and prevent the quarterly stop ups.

"Just looking for ways to avoid major repair and prevent the quarterly stop ups."
in my estimation the only way to avoid quarterly stop ups would be to perform a major repair...

Had a customer one time who just put a snake into the line and left it there. Then periodically spun it to keep the line clear.
