We have an Argo ARM-3 system with oil heat. As everyone knows, it's arctic here in ther Northeast. Our living area downstairs is a comfy 68, but the upstairs is down to 62 and no heat seems to be coming from the baseboards upstairs.

this is not a good sign. sounds like frozen pipe/s somewhere.
if you have a purge valve on the return to the boiler, you can close the stop below it and holding a bucket under it, open the hose valve. water should come out at a good clip. if it just burps a little and the flow stops then it is frozen. if water pours out at a good rate, then let it pour into the bucket until full. this is a good sign. if it starts working again then you had an air bubble stopping the flow and you have purged it out. if the water flows but still no heat then the circulator is bad.
lastly, do you have a clock thermostat that needs batteries?

Does the boiler turn on with 2nd floor t'stat? Does the circulator turn on? You need a basic understanding of the system to know where a purge valve may be.You need to know if you have an auto-fill regulator on the system, and if it's on. Is there enough time to learn these things now, before things do freeze up?
