neighor is changing their 40 yr old Dunkirk...new compnay telling him Weil Mclain is junk...forgot the brand they are pushing but what is a top quality boiler out there today >??

Some companies consider ANYTHING they do not sell and install to be "junk". Get a second opinion, and preferably a third to be sure about the cost of the installation.

Energy Kinetics System 2000..... The key is proper installation, and maintenance. For all intensive purposes, conventional boilers are nothing more than a pot, to heat water.Cast iron has stood the test of time.

i'm partial to the buderus line.
top quality but affordable.
one note... triple pass is the only type boiler to buy. the old pin style is yesterdays technology.
i don't believe weil mclain makes a triple pass boiler. doesn't mean they are junk, just not as efficient.they are also overpriced.
i installed a utica triple pass poiler in november for my neighbor and his big complaint is that he is worried that he is not using any oil compared to his 1950's american standard.
