How to remove old Valley shower faucet handle?
Author: belew (Non-US)

Can't figure out how to remove this faucet handle or cover plate. The faucet handle is labeled Valley. Original faucet from when building was built in 1985. There don't seem to be any set screws. There is one hole in the cover plate below the handle that was covered with its own little cover. There don't seem to be any screws when looking in that hole. Both the handle and cover plate are plastic.

Thank you.

Perhaps, splines that have chemically bonded to the handle after all those years.

According to my diagram, the white strip pops off. Inside the handle appear to be two "studs" and a center screw that attaches to the stem. It looks like the handle and plate are a unit, or the handle comes off and the studs are under it.It is a Valley "Val-Temp" faucet if you can find information about it.

Thanks for the responses. Both packy and hj are correct. I popped the white strip and was able to access the 2 screws. There was no centre screw attached to the stem but there was a spot for it. Next item will be to identify the parts behind the plate. Here is a picture. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks again.

As I said it is a Valley Val-Temp. The repair kit is #V4051. V-6103 is the "parts bag" with the screws, etc.
