I have a 3 knob tub faucet "hot, shower , cold" the cold faucet turns as it should to the right to turn on, back to center to turn off butalso is able to turn to the left and turn on as well any idea what is going on here ? The faucet is new - I'm having tub walls tiled and want to get the issue fixed before tile is on the wall any help,is appreciated

You could have the wrong handles for the stems, or not have the trim piece that acts as the handle stop installed yet, which would be my guess. Once the trim is in place, the handle should hit it to stop. I have to say however.. If you have the walls open, why wouldn't you upgrade to a quality one handle thermostatic shower valve? It will maintain temperature, and prevent scalding.

why would someone remodel a tub/shower and not use a pressure balance valve?
around here the big box stores sell symmoms S-96-2 for under a hundred dollars...

Since the faucet is brand new.... please tell us the brand and model. If you don't, take it back and get a single mixing valve, as required in most states. Its safer for you and your family and you can do it before you re-tile the wall.

Thefixture is Kingston brass and came with the new valve etc. to the first reply, you're right I actually havent put the knob on the extending stem yet. I'll try that and see what happens thanks!
