Hello, I've got a Pro-Line Flame Guard 50 gallon gas water heater by American Water Heater. I noticed a small amount of water leaking from the cold water inlet valve on the copper pipe connected to the top of the water heater.
Should I call a plumber or is this something I might be able to repair myself?

Haven't any idea, because we don't know where the leak is, or what you are capable of doing.

The water appears to be forming on the valve stem under the knob. There's a nut on the valve stem that I could tighten but I didn't want to do anything before getting some professional advice.

tighten the nut 'gently' - it is a valve stem packing nut
