Curently I have one 45 gallon hot water storage tank with heat coil that is heated like any other zone in the house. The hot water comes from oil burner or attached wood boiler (Seton brand). Wood boiler runs through oil burner so all zones are controlled through oil burner controls.
I now have a 2nd tank, 65 gallons again with a heat coil in it. I would like to have 105 gallons of hot water, so would like suggestions on the best way to hook up. My thought is series as the two tanks are a differnt size and the 2nd tank has no sensors in it. I also only have one zone to work with. So the new tank will be the first to get get the heated water, then the original tank. My thought was that when the original tank is up to temperture both tanks should be and the zone would shutoff. not sure which tank I should draw the hot water from for domestic user?
any thoughts or diagrams would be helpful.

i would run cold into first tank and take hot from second tank. (series)
i am afraid of an overheating situation so i would install a tempering valve on the hot outlet of the first tank. the control on the second tank should keep its temperature at 125 by code.
you are going to have PLENTY of hot water. the danger is scalding water at the faucets.
the tank with the control will be regulated by its control but the larger (first) tank will not. so, as i said, temper the hot coming from that tank into the smaller tank.

larry....Have you figured out what circ you are going to use with the 2 tanks? The indirect manufacturers have very specific requirements re: flow. Are you doing this to buffer the wood boiler?
