Hello! Thanks for clicking in my thread.
I have a bad smell of sewage coming from my main bathroom- Just from the shower- and also downstairs in the kitchen sink- my other bathroom is fine and the sink from my main bathroom is fine.
I think I know why too- I dropped a tablespoon of Sunflower oil yesterday at night and today in the morning down the toilet. I didn't know this could be bad lol. (I found out about something called oil pulling).
Could this tablespoon of oil have clugged up the toilet or something?
Could this smell harmful in any way? The water itself looks ok... I don't know.
I don't mind it too much if it's temporary, although it is a little strong.
What do you think, and what could I do to get rid of it?
Thank you for reading! Have a great day everyone.

If you suddenly got a sewer smell it wasn't from flushing a tablespoon of anything. The most common cause of sewer gas in the winter time is a dry trap that is allowing sewer smells to be pulled from the plumbing by a furnace. After that, it is generally a bad wax ring on a toilet. Kitchen sinks generally stink due to food and grease buildup on the walls and underside of the drain and the pipes before the p-trap. Pour water in all your floor drains, and run some water into any drain that isn't used at least once a month and see if your mystery smell stops.

I don't know what "oil pulling" is, at least not by that name, but it has nothing to do with the problem. Do you have a tub AND a shower and always use the shower?
