 delta o-ring size?
Author: tab a (KS)

You recently helped me find extensions for Delta tub/shower 2 handle stems.

That's fixed but now I have a leak under the hot handle, only when it's turned on. I presume I need a new o-ring on the stem. Guessing the stem is RP1740 and the o-ring is RP1129?

Anyone know if the o-ring is a standard size the hardware store will carry (plumbing store much further away) and the size or #, so I don't have to shut everything down while I'm getting parts?

Thanks.

can't answer since we don't know the size of the hardware store.
one thing, delta is a very common brand and parts should be available at ANY hardware store.
the only way to match up an "O" ring is to bring it along.
if you have time to wait, you can contact delta and they will send you free parts.

I'm with Packy. Contact Delta for free parts.... also known as OEM Parts. Anything else and you accept all the risks. Granite, you might find an o ring with the right OD or the right ID or maybe the right wall thickness, but what if you don't.
I'd stick with an OEM part all of the time.

Best Wishes

That is not usually a "replacement" part. When that seal leaks, we replace the entire stem.

I contacted Delta and when I 'guessed' this faucet might have been installed in the '80s, was told that was before lifetime warranty started. They would have been happy to sell me one though. smile

Found it online, faster and cheaper.

Thanks for the help!

You should have guessed it was in the 90s or 2000s.
