Replaced the balance spool & mixing cap. Still drips! Maybe even worse! Valve body looked clean. Any suggestions? Has this happened to anyone else?

Shouldn't be possible, unless you have a bad balancer or did not install it correctly. The control valve itself does very little, other than expose the ports on the balancer to control the flow.

ALL the seal takes place on the pressure balancer. The bottom "O" rings seal it to the valve, and the upper ones slide against the volume control to turn on the water. Kohler pressure balancers, because of how they are made, often leak on their seams, although not usually out of the box. Older ones that leak on the seam get a white coating at the leaking point. AND, I AM a professional and have been for 65 years.

So HJ, since you've been a plumbing pro for 65 years I have just one question; when did YOU first realize that Kohler sucks, 64.99 years ago?
After trying another spool and still having a drip I called the Kohler pro helpline & after a long discussion as to why I still had a drip I was finally told that in fact they have had this problem before & that they would send out a replacement valve free of charge.
I put a Moen in its place today. I hope Kohler goes out of business in my lifetime.....

Actually, 65 years ago Kohler was very good, but expensive even then. It has only been in recent years that the quality has slipped.
