 Pipe noise

I don't know if this can even be answered without someone being here to hear it but here goes my rambling.

Our washer & dryer are in the basement. The bathroom is directly a floor above them. When water is filling the washer the pipe noise coming from the bathroom area sounds like a loud straining sound.

Some additional info: I recently put steel braided hoses on the washer and noticed the noise increase. Could that be it? They are not the kind with flow restrictors in them.

Back in September, the noise wasn't there...when our water pressure was 120 PSI. I then had a new main shut off and pressure regulator valve put in. I left it at 45 PSI for a couple months. Then the washer solenoids weren't shutting off like they were supposed to on the cold water side so I replaced the valve. Then the solenoid problem came back on the hot water side so someone suggested increasing the water pressure. I then bumped it up to 60 PSI (which I think is normal).

Any ideas...about the noise? Thanks.

Does the washing machine have its own filters at the water line connection? Have you tried shutting off the hot water supply and let the cold water fill by itself to see if it is just the hot water side? It could be the washer on the compression valve supplying the washing machine. Old washers can break apart when you shut off the valve and release the chunks of rubber when the water is turned back on. It is pretty common when a old main valve is turned off after years of non-use.
