Hi, new to this forum, so please have mercy on a plumindummy
I have a shower that runs when the diverter is off. It's like the tub faucet is to restricted forcing water up to the shower. I've replacer the tub faucet twice and it didn't change anything.
Help! Dan

Do you know the brand and possibly the model number/name of the faucet?

No it's just the screw on faucet. The valve is midway up between the faucet and the shower head.

The "faucet" IS the valve. The "spout" is where the water comes out of. We would need to know the make and model of the valve, and when it was installed if you know that. How long has it been happening, because it could be an installation problem.

Thanks for clearing up the terminoligy hj, I told you I was a plumindummy lol
anyway the valve is a eljer single control that was installed 18 years ago, the problem started about 2 years ago. That's when I replaced the spout twice.

Remove the spout and turn the water on. If it still happens, then the problem is in the valve, not the spout. I assume the spout has the lever that turns the shower on.

Thanks, I just unscrewed the spout and the shower didn't run so it must be the spout. It just doesn't make sense that I replaced the spout twice and it did the same thing. Are some spouts more restricted than others?

Not normally, but we would have to do our own diagnosis to tell for sure.
