My Kohler shower has been acting up lately. It takes a couple minutes for water to get to the desired temperature, but will only maintain that temperature for 3-5 minutes before the water turns to completely cold. Then a few minutes later it starts warming up to the set temperature. The cycle repeats every 3-5 minutes.
I thought it's the water heater, but ruled that our since my shower is the only one having this symptom. The rest of the faucets in the house work just fine.
Appreciate any pointers.

If your shower valve is either a thermostatic or pressure balanced type of system, the problem is probably there.

Does you water heater have a recirculating line because those symptoms would indicate a bad pump and check valve.

Usually the circulation system is connected at the shower, and it is the only valve that would draw enough water to force cold into the recirc line.
