I have a delta 2 handle kitchen sink faucet with sprayer. The faucet will thump once and shut off on either hot or cold. Then once turned off for anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds it will thump again and the water will flow again. This has happened since the faucet was first installed only it used to just thump and interrupt the flow for maybe 1 or 2 seconds then return to flowing without turning the valve off. Now it's almost every time you use it and the interruption lasts longer and if you don't shut the handle off it will last several minutes. It has become quite annoying. The mixer has the snap in connections for the water lines to the valves and for the sprayer handle.
Any suggestions?

The internal diverter is bad; contact Delta for free parts and to get the problem on the record. If it won't stop with the new diverter, they can take further action.

That can happen if the spray head has a slight leak.
