i am not able to loosen the handle screw.allen wrench is correct size screw is loose but it needs torque and i am afraid to break the allen key.will wd 40 help?

If the screw strips out then you have to break the handle off and get a new handle, plastic coupling and screws. FYI, buying a whole shower trim kit is the cheaper way to go.

YOU will probably strip the Allen screw before you break the wrench. What do you mean by "the screw is loose", because once that happens you have usually overcome the first hurdle?

Make sure it is the right size, and not a ball-drive allen. The ball will snap off.
