Does the brand of toilet matter?
Author: kathryn2014 (WA)

Getting ready to buy a new toilet. In your opinion does the brand really matter? I know I want a taller one and one that I don't have to flush two times to keep the bowl clean! Thanks for your opinions

Taller height = ADA, or comfort height.
Toto's are good, you probably won't find them at a home improvement store though, you'll likely need to visit a plumbing supply store.

If you have clogging problems like we did, get a Caroma. We have a Caroma Sydney, ADA height, dual flush. We used to get a clog a week. Since we've had this toilet, no clogs in 6 months.

They have a nearly four inch trap -- would take a monster to clog this toilet.

Caroma is an Australian brand. They don't have a lot of fresh water sources there so water saving is a really big deal. We bought ours at a plumbing supply store in CA. Not the cheapest toilet, but the best in my opinion.

The make is NOT as important as how it is designed. The brand I use has a simple inverted "U" so it is almost impossible to plug it up. Others have a "square corner" at the bottom in the rear and that is where things can get caught.
