 water line for ice maker

Is having 20 feet of water line tubing too much? There is no other way to go from water source to frig. Just worrying about health reasons. Thanks.

It should be fine. Icemakers generally have plenty of excess tubing so that refrigerators can be rolled out for cleaning and such. It is more important to have the proper amount of line behind the fridge so that it doesn't get damaged when the fridge is moved. Also consider installing a mechanical hammer arrestor on the supply when you install the T to tap into the line.

Using something like this gives you both the arrestor and quarter turn valve in one. Sioux Chief ice maker supply box.
