Hi,
I am hoping somebody can give me some advice. We have a 16x80 mobile home with a roof vent on each end of the house I believe. Recently in the master bedroom which is connected to the partially open bathroom area, we have started smelling a nauseating sewage odor. It hasn't gotten to the point were we have to leave the windows open just to help keep the smell down. There is a sink, a walk in shower, and a garden tub in the bathroom. There has been no backup or slow draining of any kind. It is just the smell that is driving us crazy. I have cleaned the drains of hair and everything. I have poured cleaners and stuff in the drains and even tried baking soda and vinegar. The smell still persists and I think it is getting worse. The roof vent is right above the bathroom and bedroom on the trailer. Can it be clogged with debri even though the plumbing is draining fine? Will it being clogged, cause this horrible smell?
Any help is appreciated,
Joel

Have you checked under the house to make sure there isn't a sewage backup? Check that before going any further.

Does the location of your mobile home have a closed sewer system or is it connected to the community?
Do your neighbors have the same issues or is it just at your place? Do a complete "look n see" under your place to make sure everything is connected properly. If you can't .... hire a licensed plumber.
Best Wishes

I always hated looking under a trailer for a mystery smell. Never knew what I would find.

We have a special septic system. It is some kind of system with 3 septic tanks that filters the waste then sprays it out in the field through some sprinkler head type things. It has an air pump on top of the middle septic tank to cause breakdown or something. My neighbors don't have this problem. I suspect it might be the vent on the roof, because there was a hornets nest in it when we first moved here and the toilet and stuff was backing up and the room had this smell. Once we got the hornets nest removed it was fine. The only thing that is puzzling me about it now is that there is no slow drainage or anything, just the smell. I snaked the drains with a 25 foot drum auger but the smell persist.

Snaking a drain with a 25 foot quarter inch cable isn't going to get anything accomplished. Check under the trailer, or take a look down the vent with a strong spotlight.

I have a double wide. The bathroom sinks have an air admittance valve under them. When one of these leaked, we had a sulpher sewage smell in the bathroom.
I repaired the valve, but I think they can be purchased at home depot.

I have those I believe. It is a little black screw on cylinder with a spring loaded mechanism right? How do you know if it is working right?

you can unscrew it and see if you blow air out of it. It should let air in but not out.
