SLOAN EBV-200-A sensor activation in empty stall
Author: donniepike (TN)

I've got a Smooth flushometer retrofit that continues to activate in an empty stall. I set the sensor to (c) urinal setting, thinking air moving the stall door or toilet paper movement was activating the sensor. Opened it up to check the board, and didn't see any oxidation. Wondered if anyone had done any work on these.

Shadows and Reflexions can be the issue or the distances setting on the sensor. Someone walking across a reflexion beam will not cycle the flush valve. There is a 8-10 second setting that one has to stand in front of the valve. Remember the valve is project a laser stream from the face of the valve and when someone stands in front of it for 10 seconds the laser light is reflected back into the face of the valve. How old is your Smooth Operator?

Best Wishes

These are less than a year old. Now I have two side by side that are going off. I have them both set on mode C. They are in a women's restroom on a w/c. I wondering if the door or toilet paper was activating the sensor. With these removed, I'm still getting random flashes from the led, and after a period of time, a flush. Wondering if cleaning staff sprayed it with cleaner, and corroded the board. The only other option is that I've got a short on two, right next to each other, out of 50 units. angry

It has been a couple years now, and it wasn't that model, but we had a similar problem with some retro fit sloan sensors. When they were opened to change the batteries, they either didn't reseal correctly, or something because they alternately flushed or didn't operate at seemingly random intervals. We found out that they had gotten moisture inside them and had a fine film of fog across the sensor which was acting as a mirror and really screwing things up. It wasn't my job so I don't know how it turned out, but that may be your situation.
