 Ejector pump vs Grinder Pump
Author: PowerHouse (GA)

We own a 4 BR, 4.5 Bath home in a gated community.

Long story short, we are forced to redirect our sewer pipe to the county sewer manhole in our backyard about 80-90 feet away with a slight incline. (we were probably only a foot away from using gravity)

We wanted to use a grinder pump system however we were told by another plumber a grinder pump would be too powerful for the application and would not be covered by warranty. Is there any truth to that?

we also have plans to put a 300 gallon tank in with a duplex grinder pump system.

any help would be appreciated

contact one of the big pump manufacturers such a zoeller or liberty and ask them that question. that way you can tell the plumber that you got the info from a pump manufacturer not just from an internet site..

A customer also told me what another plumber had said about her drain line and I told her, "I guess we'll have to find out if it was fact or fiction". Hers was fiction and yours is also. YOu are wise to install a duplex system regardless of the pump type, along with all the bells and whistles it should come with. I would also connect the high limit alarm to a "normally closed" water line valve so you could not use water in the house if the pumps failed or there was a power outage. Otherwise you could flood the basement.

It means that if the pump failed and the high water alarm activated, OR there was a power failure, the valve would shut the water off to the house. Otherwise you could keep using water but with a "dead pump" it would have to overflow the basin and flood the basement.
