After a sewage water flood and shaking my pipe on 25 different occasions to activate my float switch, I'm finally going to install a new ejector pump. My old pump is from 06' (I've lived in the house for 2 years). The ejector pump gets water from a full bath and a floor drain that collects condensate from the furnace/AC.
My new pump has a sensor switch so I shouldn't have to worry about toilet paper weighing down a mechanical float switch. I plan to clean the pit and possibly some of the PVC inlet pipe. Any recommendations on what to clean the pit with? The toilet seat and cover (on the inside) is completely molded up from not getting used/having a really dirty pit. Could I spray some foam inside the PVC inlet pipe? I know it's going to be a nasty job and would appreciate any tips you may have.
Thanks

Its more than just using bleach. There is face protection, hands are arms too. What pump are you replacing and what pump will you be using. Model numbers.

I think my old pump is a Zoeller 264 or 267 (I'll have to check if the base is plastic). I ordered an iON SHV40I-11. It's a 1/2 HP 2" residential sewage pump.

Sensor switches can also get "fouled" and not operate.
