Hello,

I need to replace a Price Pfister kitchen faucet with single handle with pull-out spray, model 533-40. The faucet shank is fastened to the sink by a large brass hex nut (1-7/16 in) from underneath the sink (please see picture below). The problem I have is that the nut is too large in this very tight spot and I cannot get any wrench in to loosen it. I tried basin wrench but it can only handle up to 1-1/4 in nut. Please help suggest a method/tool to get this nut off. Thank you very much.

Basin wrenches come in different sizes. You need to use a larger one.

You could also remove the sink and work on it upside down where everything is accessible. Unless it is glued in tightly, that is my preferred method. Then you can clean all around and put a fresh bead of silicone down, re putty the strainers, etc. Saves you from getting under it again anytime soon.

Try a water heater element wrench

Dremel tool.

hammer and sharp chisel.

REMOVE THE SINK?????????????????? If you are REALLY going to do that, then you might as well install a new sink also. That would be my very LAST option, if I even considered it at all. They make a set of 5 faucet sockets and one of them fits that nut. Then if you "telescope" some of the others onto it, it will be long enough for you to grab it with pliers and turn it.

Not on THAT sink.

I should have clarified my response..
gently tap a chisel to move the nut in a CCW rotation to get it loose. once loosened it should (with some penetrating oil) turn by hand...
I see no corrosion to stop it from turning freely once loosened.

I use a 1 7/16 in crowfoot wrench.

How much is THAT going to cost?

They are less expensive than what you might expect, thanks to China, here is one for $12.24
