The Hot Water Faucet handle Seems stripped?
Author: Mystic Thunder (OH)

The hot water faucet handle in my tub was recently replaced and it now seems to be stripped, not sure if it's the screw, as it seems to tighten, though when I go to shut it off it goes right past the shut off stop point and turns water back on. Have had the actual piece that handle fits on, replaced, so it is not likely that I stripped the brass teeth off where the handle fits onto it or could I have done that?
Need an idea of what I can do to fix this as I also purchased two new faucet handles for both hot and cold. Appreciate any help!

we would need to know the make and model of the faucet, and a picture would also help. You imply that the faucet is either Delta or Moen from the way you describe it working, and if so either the stem retainer stop or the handle has cracked.

To get a real answer we need to know the make/model, or at least see a picture of the stem. It may be that either the broach where the handle goes on or the threads on the stem are stripped, but this is wild speculation until we know what you have.
