if it is still leaking then you: (multiple choice)
a) Didn't fix the correct stem
b) Didn't fix the stem correctly
c) Both of the above
Is the leak from the stem by the handle, the stem at the valve body, or from the shower head? Is this a tub/shower and has a diverter in play as well?

it's a three handle assembly with a diverter in the middle. it's leaking cold water from the faucet, so i replaced the cold water stem. it's the same size and make as the one that was there. any more thoughts?

Did you replace the seat also ?
Are you positive it's the cold side that's leaking ?

yes, i also replaced the seat. the water coming out of the tap is cold so i assume it's the cold side. could it be the hot and it comes out cold?

A small hot water leak could be cold if it is not fast enough to bring the hot water from the tank before it cools down. We ALWAYS repair both hot and cold sides for just that reason.

Same here. It is never worth a callback to do something that would have taken you another 2 minutes if you had done it while the water was off the first time.
