There is a 3" drain pipe (some sort of metal) in a wall that My Father had installed to drain thw wash machine out to a cesspool The inner diameter of the pipe is threaded and is 2-1/4" across ( I can only see the top of the pipe. I need a PVC with male threads to screw into this pipe but all I am seeing is 2" or 2-1/2" pvc connectors I don't know the measurement of the threading for 2" or 2-1/2" pvc. any help would be appreciated thanks.

The "pipe" shouldn't be internally threaded. There is probably a coupling screwed to the pipe and you are seeing the open side of the coupling. If you're measuring 2ΒΌ", get a 2" male adapter.

Or it is an open clean-out adapter. Either way, try a 2" PVC male adaptor in the threaded end.
