I have a question. I have an inground swimming pool and recently replced the shut off valves with valves that are threaded. Now I have problem with the valves leaking air into the system. When I put in the new valves I put teflon tape on the threads. The leak detector guy showed me air bubbles coming out of the threads. Is there anything that I may use to seal up the threads? Thanks, kenocarps. I am using white pvc.

Not enough TPFE tape or not tight enough. Anything you put over the leaks will just be a patch and no telling whether it will work or how long.

Size is 1.5 inches. All of the pipes to the valves are new with female threads (internal)Valves have male threads top and bottom.

if you have room, cut the pipe a short distance from the leaking adapter, re-dope the thread and re-tighten. use a 1 1/2 inch rubber coupling where you made the cut.

Use teflon tape and silicone.

I assume the pipes are for running the water from the pool through a filter and back? If so there is a pump and the pipes are pressurized. I thought the Ferncos like this are only for drains?

you are correct even assuming use on the suction side of the pump
