I have a downstairs laundry room with a floor drain that is suddenly backing up slightly. The floor drain connects under the concrete (I assume) with the washer line before exiting into the sump and only backs up when the washer pump runs. I watched as the sump started pumping and it appears to be working correctly with the water level in the pit never reaching the height of the pipe running from the drain. I'm assuming that all the pressure from the washer pump is pushing water back up the y connection into the floor drain somehow but don't understand it as the water flowing into the sump seems to be flowing very quickly and unobstructed.
Thanks in advance
Chris
