Bought house - newly constructed- 4 months ago. One cold water line in M/Bath run hot water. Returned from vacation every water outlet in house was running hot water, even toilet tanks very hot to touch, water from refrigator line hot enough to make tea. PEX tubing, recirculating pump, lines in attic except for line to kitchen buried in concrete, about 10 feet from hot water heater. Have to run this tap for up to a minute, sometimes longer, to get hot water, stays hot while running but once shut off must run water again to get hot water again. Here's what developer has done: seperated lines in attic - they were touching; installed spring check valve on recirculation pump; still getting hot water and or warm from cold water faucet, it eventually turns cold but each time faucets turned on it a guessing game as to temp. of water and for how long it will be that temp. Lines in attic not insulated seperately from insulation in attic, developer says its not necessary to insulate lines, says problem (they call it an issue) caused by ambient air. Might add I am only one of about 16 in this new developement with this "issue" Suggestions as to cause and fix!!!! Four months and I am getting flustrated. Developer seems to think this is no big deal.

Line in the attic will ALWAYS run warm/hot in your area, even if they are insulated, but that may not be the only problem. Only a plumber at the house can evaluate whether there is a crossed piping problem, or if there is even a functional problem.

Had owner of company that did/is doing this development - he acknowledged problem but didn't know what to do about it short of tearing out walls - said it had all been inspected and pass so did not believe he would find anything wrong if he did tear out walls. He told me he is in hopes I will accept it as is.

Two owners of plumbing companies have been here, felt the hot water in cold water line, felt the warm water in cold water line, the response of the first plumber is posted. The second plumber, short of me paying out of pocket for something that is under warranty, said there is things that should be done to find source of problem and he suggested them to general superintendent of project but he (superintendent) said to wait and see what happens after they re-check the spring check valve they installed.

Oh, should have re-stated my house is only house with this "issue" of the 16 or so who have also bought in this new development. Hot in attic, yes, hot for me and for them. Can you tell me what you think other problems may be?
