I am gutting and renovating a 1930's bathroom. The toilet rough in is currently 10". I cannot find a stylish toilet with anything smaller than a 12" rough in. How much work/problem/cost is it to convert this to a 12" rough in? Or any suggestions for a modern toilet with a 10" rough in.

Impossible to answer the question, but there had to be a reason why they used a 10" rough install, and until you cut the floor open, you will not know why that was and whether you can overcome it to change to a 12" toilet. Usually the answer is no, or at least difficult, because there is a joist in the way and would have to be cut out.

Most all manufacturers have a 10" line-up. Surely one of them would have something that will suit your preference.

10" bowls are very "utilitarian" without any classy lines to them.
