Sewage Pump for a boat house
Author: K29 (IL)

I am installing a bathroom in a boat house. I'm not sure what kind of pump I need. The elevation change to my current septic is about 30 ft. So I know I need a pump with at least a thirty foot shutoff, but total distance from the pump to the septic would be around 250 ft. Does the distance matter? Do I need to install a second pump in my yard about half way to the septic? Any help is greatly appreciated.

i would first choose a good pump manufacturer such as liberty, zoeller etc. then contact their engineering department to give them all the vital specs. they will then tell you exactly what you need.

The distance does matter, it adds to the fiction loss and the total lift must also be increased. You'll be able to do what you want with 1 pump, a 2nd pump won't be necessary .
