Hi everyone, thanks in advance for your help!
I'm really confused as to what could be causing this tapping noise inside my wall, I don't see any water damage in the basement, and the sound can mainly be heard near the water boiler in the walls and in the ducting above it, but I'm really confused as to what may be the cause. It is a really fast paced tap tap (drip/creaking noise) (80-120 beats per minute) and it will go away for a few seconds and then come back and go away again.
Link to a video of the sound for clarification

I can't imagine what that is???
i'm guessing it isn't plumbing related. at least I have never heard anything like it. it sounds like a wind-up alarm clock ticking away...

IT is something we would have to be there so we could try to follow the sound to its source.

This one is easy. The sound is associated with your blower fan for the ductwork. It could be: debris in the duct/housing rubbing against the fan; 2. A fan that is wobbly or out of balance, or; 3. bad bearings in the fan housing or blower motor.
I bet you only hear this sound when the air handler is running, yes?
It's NOT like any "plumbing" sound I've ever heard.

IF water related:
Does this happen all the time (24/7)?
or
only when your sprinklers are on? (could be water hammer caused by pulsating sprinkler)
or
only when water is running through your water meter?
or
do you have any check valve anywhere? (such as in a hot water circulating system)

Sounds like expansion and contraction of piping as it rubs on the wall or ceiling framing.

it doesn't sound like expanding contracting to me...I had this expansion/contraction issue once and the sound only comes on when hot water is used no problem with running cold. Also the expansion/contraction sounded more like if one takes a strap wrench and torque it around a pipe when it slips it makes a noise and it sounded like that. This does sound like some sort of a mechanical egg timer thing.

The sound does resemble a fan in dire need of cleaning or replacement, imho.
