Looking for a quarter turn outdoor sillcock, freeze proof but without the vacuum breaker. Would rather use a separate vacuum breaker since I hear that is the part that causes the most problems.

I usually use the basic non freeze proof Prier brand sillcocks on a few of rental properties I own. Have not found anything that looks and feels as heavy duty. More expensive but think its worth it for something that should last.

Would like to try a quarter turn model on my house. Prier does make a quarter turn freeze proof model but it has the vacuum breaker built in. That part maybe over built also, but would like to have a separate vacuum breaker if I could. And would like to stick with something with the quality of Prier and not any junk like the Woodford outdoor faucets. Have seen some of those and they seems like half the quality at about the same price.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Totally biased post here as I work for PRIER. (Thanks for using our products!)

The Quarter-Turn is relatively new technology, and quite frankly, with all the codes requiring vacuum breakers and backflow protection, it simply doesn't make sense for us to invest and make this valve without a vacuum breaker for limited distribution. My guess is the other manufacturers are in the same boat.

Please keep in mind that MOST add on vacuum breakers are "biased closed" which means they trap water inside of the valve. If you put one of this type of vacuum breaker on a freezeless wall hydrant, the water cannot drain and it will no longer provide freeze protection. Unfortunately today, vacuum breakers are required and the add on ones will often create other issues that the integral ones do not have.

Good luck!
