 Sewer Odor
Author: Prudoco (FL)

For 10 years, we have tried to find a sewer odor. Through MANY Smoke tests, cameras, etc. we have not been able to find it. This is a two story quad townhouse that the problem started a day after the city hydrojeted our 4 inch sewer line trying to clear a clog.

We have had a hydrostatic test to the level of the 1st floor shower drain and established there is a slow leak that is happening under the slab. The general consensus is that would not cause a sewer odor.

Our next step is to do the hydrostatic test but this time up to the level of the 1st floor sinks--pulling the toilets and plugging them and the shower drain with a person staying by each of the 3 plumbing areas while this is done. In theory, there is not that much more water being placed in the system past the shower drain level test--about 5 gallons more per plumbing area.

This test would firmly establish if there is a leak up to that height with minimal possible water damage.

Your thoughts are appreciated!!!
