We purchased a home with a new gas hot water heating system and a Bradford White water heater.
The water has a strong metallic smell not sulfur. As instructed by BW my plumber bought new anode rods with mag and aluminum and bleached the tank. Smell was gone for about a week and back again. If we drain it daily it is not noticeable but since it is a vacation home that is not the case.
Our only successful attempt at stopping the odor was to remove the rods entirely. BW has no further solutions. HELP

That would mean;
1. You have a poltergeist, or
2. You have a more sensitive nose, or
3. You do not know EVERYONE in your town.

Are all your hot and cold water piping throughout the house galvanized, copper, plastics or a combination?
Do you know the pH of your water?
How long has this odor issue been going on?

vic....It's been going on since the previous owner replaced everything, didn't solve the problem, and sold the house

It might be worthwhile to contact them. They may be able to offer some insight into the metal smell. All the complaints I have read about are for well water with high iron or copper content.
