 Replace pH system?
Author: Alicia (CT)

My husband and I just bought a 1969 home that uses well water. We had the water tested and everything came back at acceptable levels. My husband had one water treatment company out to set up our new account and learned that a different water company supplied the equipment for the pH neutralizer. This second company told my husband the water was too acidic and the system needed to be replaced. My husband is ready to pay for the new system because he is concerned with possible corrosion of the pipes. The pH level is 6.4, the copper is 0.039, and the lead is <0.010. Are these acceptable or do we need to worry about corrosion and replacing the pH system? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

ARe you surprised that a company wants to replace a unit sold by a different company? I would get a third party evaluation, by someone who is NOT trying to sell you a piece of equipment.

A pH level of 6.4 WILL eat your copper pipes and it's only a matter of time before you will have leaks.

Best to do "something" and not allow your water to stay at a pH of 6.4.
