I have a 50 gallon electric water heater that is about 3 months old. Yesterday it popped the breaker and now every time I reset the breaker it holds for about 1 minute then pops it again any ideas what is wrong? Thanks

1 minute before tripping the breaker.
Bad breaker ? What amp breaker are you using ?
Possible leak inside the water heater causing a short to ground.

The upper element has burned out so it is shorting out through the water.

Remove access covers and look for water leakage around thermostats/elements. Should not have leaks at 3 mo. old, but should be checked.
